A hidden leak in a home, an office, a shop or a warehouse is unpleasant, destructive and expensive. Look for a firm, not an advertisement. Read reviews from people, companies and institutions that have already used the service. A good name guarantees fair treatment both of you and of your property. Telephone and talk — it is often clear from the call alone.

2. Professional equipment

Leaks can be difficult to find, and anyone calling themselves an expert should carry the full set of equipment for detecting and confirming the fault.

Professional leak detection equipment does not include a smartphone with a camera or a mobile app. A genuine team has invested in instruments worth as much as a mid-sized flat in Sofia.

3. Qualification and experience

Bulgarian law does not require specific education for this work. But thermography is a science, and not everyone holding a thermal camera is an expert in leak detection.

• The thermal imaging camera is only part of the toolkit.
• A thermogram taken incorrectly and read inaccurately can cause a great deal of damage.
• A certified expert guarantees the accuracy of the image and the correct reading of the thermal picture.
• Some leaks need not only equipment and qualification but experience as well.

4. Price

The last thing you want is unnecessary and expensive repairs. Compare several quotations, but watch the balance: a low price can cost you dearly, and a high one is no automatic guarantee of quality.
