Pipe and cable locating
We trace buried pipes and cables before excavation with Radiodetection and Vivax-Metrotech, marking depth and position on site.
- Tracing before excavation
- Metallic and non-metallic pipes, live cables
- Exact burial depth established
- Marked out on the ground
Before any excavation it pays to know what runs beneath. A severed supply cable or a fractured main stops the job and costs many times more than tracing it first.
What we locate
- Metallic and non-metallic water and drainage pipes.
- Live cables, and de-energised ones.
- Communication and power network routes.
- The exact burial depth, not merely the direction of the run.
The equipment
- Radiodetection — the world standard for underground tracing, location and depth measurement.
- Vivax-Metrotech — industrial locators and cable finders for mapping complex buried networks.
On drainage runs we also use the sondes built into our survey cameras: we stop the camera at the defect and mark the point at the surface with a ground receiver.
When it is needed
Before excavation and construction, when designing new routes, ahead of foundation and landscaping work, and wherever as-built documentation for existing services is missing.
